YouTube Analytics

In one line: Connect YouTube Analytics so your UnleashX agent can pull channel and video reports, list your top-performing videos, and organize analytics groups — all in plain language.

1. Overview

YouTube Analytics is Google’s reporting layer for YouTube channels. It holds the metrics behind your channel and videos — views, watch time, subscribers, traffic sources, and more — along with analytics groups that let you slice performance across sets of videos or channels. Once connected to UnleashX, your agent can pull channel and video reports, list your top videos by a metric, browse the channels and videos you manage, and read or create analytics groups. This connector is read and report focused — it surfaces your metrics rather than changing your content. It works against your live YouTube data using your own Google sign-in, so it respects your account and access. Connecting YouTube Analytics to UnleashX turns your performance data into something you can just ask about. Instead of opening YouTube Studio to build a report, you ask your agent in plain language and it pulls the numbers, ranks the videos, or summarizes the trend for you.

2. What you’ll need

  • A Google account that owns or manages a YouTube channel (or has Brand Account access to one).
  • Access to the channel’s analytics in YouTube Studio.
  • An UnleashX account with access to Data Connectors.
No API key to paste. YouTube Analytics uses OAuth — you click Authorize and sign in with Google.
Analytics data can be delayed — recent views and watch time may take a day or more to finalize. Very fresh reports can show partial numbers until YouTube completes processing.

3. Get your credentials

There’s no key to copy. Authentication runs through Google’s secure OAuth sign-in.
1

Start the connection in UnleashX

Connecting YouTube Analytics (Section 4) opens a Google Sign in window.
2

Sign in with Google

Choose the Google account that manages the channel you want to report on, and sign in at https://accounts.google.com. Complete two-factor authentication if prompted.
3

Review and accept the scopes

Google shows the access UnleashX is requesting (see the scopes table). Review it and click Allow.
4

Confirm the channel

If your account manages multiple channels or Brand Accounts, make sure you picked the one whose analytics you want to pull.
5

Return to UnleashX

Google redirects you back automatically and the connector links to your account. Behind the scenes UnleashX uses Google’s OAuth token — you never handle it yourself.
Permissions (Google OAuth scopes) UnleashX requests:
Google OAuth scopes are granular. UnleashX requests only what these tools need, and Google — not UnleashX — enforces the limits.

4. Connect on UnleashX

Use YouTube Analytics in a Workflow

Once connected, you can add YouTube Analytics to any automation from the Workflows builder. Its triggers and tools appear in the Apps panel, marked with an MCP badge.
1

Add a trigger node

Open Workflows → New Workflow. On the canvas, click + Add Trigger. In the Paths panel, open the Apps tab and select YouTube Analytics — its Triggers are listed underneath. Use the search box if you have many connectors.
2

Add an action node

Click the + below any node to add a step, then pick YouTube Analytics again — this time the panel lists its Actions.
3

Configure the step

Fill in the fields for the trigger or action you picked. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
4

Add or select your account

Under Selected account, choose an already-connected account, or click Add Account to connect one now.
5

Save and test

Click Save. Use Test to verify the step, then toggle Publish when the workflow is ready.
The steps are the same for every connector. For the full workflow builder guide, see Using MCP in Workflows.

6. Example usage

“How did the channel do last month? Give me views, watch time, and new subscribers.” → Runs Get Channel Report for last month’s date range and summarizes the key metrics. “What were my five most-viewed videos this quarter?” → Runs List Top Videos ranked by views for the quarter and returns the top five.

7. Permissions & data access

UnleashX can:
  • Pull channel and video analytics reports.
  • List your top videos, channels, and videos.
  • Read your analytics groups.
  • Create new analytics groups (this tool is marked ✏️).
UnleashX cannot:
  • Edit, upload, or delete your videos or channel content.
  • Access analytics for channels your account doesn’t manage.
  • Change your Google account password or security settings.
To disconnect: In UnleashX, open Data Connectors → YouTube Analytics → Disconnect. You can also revoke access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions (Third-party apps with account access). Disconnecting revokes access immediately.

8. Troubleshooting

For general MCP issues, see /mcp/integrations.

9. Frequently asked questions

Is my analytics data stored by UnleashX? No. UnleashX pulls reports live through the YouTube Analytics API per request; it doesn’t keep a copy of your data. Which channel does the agent report on? The one tied to the Google account you selected when connecting. If you manage several, reconnect to switch, or pick the channel in the report. Can the agent change my videos or channel? No. This connector is read and report focused — the only write action is creating analytics groups. It can’t upload, edit, or delete content. Why are recent numbers lower than expected? YouTube takes time to process views and watch time. Very recent reports can show partial figures until processing completes.
